“Insensatez” (usually translated to “How Insensitive” in English, although the Portuguese word really means ‘absurdity’ or ‘folly’) is a bossa nova jazz standard composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, loosely based on Frederic Chopin’s Prelude No.4 with lyrics by Vinicius de Moraes. The English lyrics were written by Norman Gimbel.

Norman Gimbel is an American lyricist of popular songs, television and movie themes whose writing career includes such titles as “Sway”, “Canadian Sunset”, “Summer Samba”, “The Girl from Ipanema”, “Killing Me Softly with His Song”, “Meditation”(“I Will Wait for You”), along with an Oscar for “It Goes Like It Goes” – from the film Norma Rae. During 1984 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
