info

All right it’s cheesy, over-sentimental, has no real structure, but we love it. Gershwin just wanted to try out an experiment, and instead he came out with a complete hit! There is such a conglomeration of jazzy rhythms from the popular ‘charleston’ of the 20s to Cuban-like rhythms. Rhapsody in Blue is a musical composition by George Gershwin for solo piano and jazz band created in 1924, which combines elements of classical music with jazz-influenced effects.

Gershwin hastily set about composing a work on a train ride to Boston.

how to practice

The best way for getting very good at keeping an outstanding tempo is to try to count aloud while practicing. Learn the LH to become a expert musician especially all of those cool walking bass techniques employed. Terrific jazz pianists are perhaps most well-known for their left hands. Once you’re completely skilled with the bass register and vocal lines from the song, you can include harmony/chords that can add more ‘completeness’ to the musical makeup. In difficult technical passages, practice just the first note of every group of notes (group of four sixteenths, for example), in time with a metronome, and you’ll see how much easier they became. The trick in jazz is not to focus on EVERY note of passages.
