Tears For Fears

Tears for Fears are an English new-wave group formed in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith Started following the dissolution of their first group, the mod -affected Graduate , they certainly were initially related to the new wave synthesizer groups of the early eighties but later branched out in to mainstream rock and pop, which led to global graph success. They were component of the MTV-driven Second British Invasion of the USA.

Their platinum-selling debut record, The Hurting , attained number one on the UK Albums Chart , while their 2nd record, Tracks from the Large Chair , attained number one on the US Billboard 200 , reaching multi-platinum standing in the United Kingdom along with the USA. Their 2nd record included two Billboard Hot 100 number 1s: Shout and Everyone Wants to Rule the Planet’, the latter winning the Brit Award for The best British Single in 1986.

Following the launch of their third platinum-selling record, The Seeds of Love (1989), Smith and Orzabal parted business in 1991, although Orzabal kept the Tears for Fears title through the rest of the 90’s. The duet reformed in 2,000, and launched an album of new content, Many People Adore a Happy Ending , in 2004. To day, Tears for Fears have offered over 30 million records globally, including significantly more than 8 million in the United States.

Orzabal and Smith fulfilled as teens in town of Bath , Somerset, in south-west England. The duet became session musicians for the group Neon, where they first fulfilled future Tears For Fears drummer Manny Elias Neon additionally featured Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher who went to become Bare Eyes Smith and Orzabal’s expert debut included the group Graduate , a mod resurrection /new-wave act. In 1980, Graduate launched an album, Performing My Age , and also a solitaryElvis Should Perform Ska; (discussing Elvis Costello , not Presley ).
