Gym Class Heroes are an American rap-rock group from Geneva, Ny , United States. The team formed in 1997 when Travie McCoy met drummer Matt McGinley throughout their high-school gymnasium course The band’s songs shows broad array of influences, including rap , rock , funk , and reggae Following the improvement of guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and bassist Eric Roberts in 2003, the team was signed to Fueled by Ramen and Decaydance Records ( Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz ‘s impartial record label), on which they launched their debut album, The Paper-Cut Chronicles The team obtained a solid fan base while encouraging the album, showing at festivals like The Bamboozle and Warped Tour In 2006, the team released the golden-selling album As Cruel as School Children Since that launch, the band’s solitary Cupid’s Chokehold attained No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 , and Garments Off!! & peaked at No.5 in great Britain. MC Travie McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley became pals at their neighborhood high school in ninth grade in Geneva, Ny. They formally came together in 1997. The group formed when bassist Ryan Geise and drummer Matt McGinley were executing in a celebration within an instrumental group with no vocals.
