The Cardigans really are a Swedish rock-band formed in Jnkping , Sweden , in 1992, by guitarist Peter Svensson , bassist Magnus Sveningsson , drummer Bengt Lagerberg , keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and direct singer Nina Persson , together with the lineup staying unchanged to this day.

Their debut record Emmerdale (1994) gave them a strong foundation in their own home nation and had some success abroad, particularly in Japan. It wasn’t until their second record Life (1995) that a global standing was procured. After their achievement with Existence , The Cardigans signed to Mercury Records , under that they launched First Band on the Moon globally in 1996. & Lovefool was popular globally, especially in the USA and Japan, where the album reached platinum status in three months. The record also reached gold sales status in the USA. &Lovefool; was demonstrated on MTV in the late-1990s as a music-video with clips in the 1996 hit movie Romeo Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes It also highlighted in the movie Cruel Intentions (1999).
