Tank is a British rock band, formed in 1980 by Algy Ward , a former member of The Damned The group is called a part of the New-Wave of British Heavy-Metal movement. Tank was regularly in comparison to Motrhead as both groups, trios fronted by singing bassists, performed a free, nearly punk -styled steel music with typically colourful lyrics.
Their 1982 debut record, Filth Hounds of Hades , was favorably received by both punk and steel lovers in addition to most critics, viewed now as one of many greatest records of the NWOBHM motion. Allmusic critic, Eduardo Rivadavia; explained it as Tank’s greatest album actually, and qualifying it as a crucial thing in the document collection of any significant ’80s steel fan.
As was the situation with a number of other groups of the age, Tank was never able enough to build around the promise demonstrated by their very first album. The group continued on for many years through line up changes and waning business bundles before ultimately disbanding in 1989. Ward resurrected the group in 1997 enjoying tour dates around Europe and Japan for a few years. A brand new record, Still At War , emerged in 2002. In August 2006 Ward noted he was placing the finishing touches in the demos for the following Tank record, Sturmpanzer The group’s web site has recorded the release date because of this record asTBA; for twelvemonths.
On 20 December 2008 a new line up was pronounced. Guitarists Mick Tucker and Cliff Evans were joined by first drummer Mark Brabbs and former Bruce Dickinson bassist Chris Dale Algy Ward was changed by former Rainbow vocalist Doogie White In 2010 the group replaced Brabbs with Voodoo Six drummer, Dave Cavill and launched the brand new Tank record War Device , with this particular lineup in launched in Oct 2010. For 2011 Cavill was replaced by the band with rock drummer, Mark Cross.
